Pro Kabaddi Chennai Stadium 2026 Updates: Venue, Capacity, Location, Tickets & Amazing Match Details
Pro Kabaddi Chennai Stadium
The Pro Kabaddi Chennai Stadium is one of the important venues associated with the Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) and the home matches of the Tamil Thalaivas. In recent PKL seasons, the venue has been listed as the SDAT Multi Purpose Indoor Stadium, Chennai, while it is also commonly associated with the Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium name. The official Pro Kabaddi website currently lists the SDAT Multi Purpose Indoor Stadium as the home venue of Tamil Thalaivas.
Chennai has been part of the Pro Kabaddi landscape since the Tamil Thalaivas entered the league in Season 5 in 2017. The city provides a strong local following for kabaddi, making its home leg an important part of the PKL calendar. The venue became particularly relevant during PKL Season 12 in 2025, when the league returned to Chennai after a two-year gap. The official PKL announcement confirmed that the Chennai leg began on September 29, 2025, at the SDAT Multipurpose Indoor Stadium.
Pro Kabaddi Chennai Stadium Name
The current official Pro Kabaddi listing identifies the Tamil Thalaivas’ home venue as the SDAT Multi Purpose Indoor Stadium, Chennai. The venue is also widely referred to as the Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium. It forms part of the larger Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium sports complex in Chennai.
The indoor stadium is different from the main outdoor Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium. This distinction is important because the outdoor stadium is primarily associated with football and athletics, while the indoor facility is used for indoor sports, including professional kabaddi. The indoor complex has been associated with Tamil Thalaivas home fixtures since the franchise joined the Pro Kabaddi League. Historical references identify the indoor stadium as the venue for the team’s home matches, while official PKL records have also listed matches at the venue.
Why Is the Venue Used for Pro Kabaddi?
Kabaddi requires an indoor playing environment with a suitable court, spectator seating, lighting, player areas and event infrastructure. An indoor arena is particularly useful for maintaining consistent playing conditions. For Tamil Thalaivas, playing in Chennai also gives the franchise a home-city connection with supporters from Tamil Nadu.

Seating Arrangement
Spectators are generally seated around the indoor playing area, providing a closer view of the kabaddi court than many large outdoor stadiums.
